Walking along the boardwalk in Peck Lake Park, 8108 Gomez Ave., feels like stepping into Old Florida. Native plants, flatwoods, mangroves and swamps surround you. Once you reach the end of the short boardwalk, you’re on a spoil island and are offered beautiful views of the intracoastal and a tranquil beach. There’s a large pavilion and picnic areas, so pack a lunch, enjoy the quiet and take in the view. The park is adjacent to the Nathaniel P. Reed Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge.
